About Me

Hello, and welcome! I’m Xiaohan Wang, and I go by Tiffany. Xiaohan is pronounced “Shee-ah-hahn.” I have a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and I now work in applied AI and machine learning.

I’m an Applied AI/ML Senior Associate at JPMorgan Chase, where I’m part of the Sales Science team. I’m helping expand the team’s machine-learning recommendations in Blueprint and supporting ways to learn from how recommendations perform after they’re rolled out. The goal is to use that feedback to keep improving them over time.

Before joining JPMorgan Chase, I studied how public policies and economic shocks affect people’s opportunities. My research focused on labor, public, and education economics, including the effects of natural disasters on occupational mobility, tuition-free college programs, and child labor laws. I used historical and contemporary data and causal inference methods to explore how people’s opportunities change across generations.

I enjoy work that combines careful analysis with practical questions—whether that means understanding the effects of a policy or learning how to make recommendations more useful.
